As the name indicates that the caged means the birds/hens are kept in tightly packed wired cages poultry farming. They have to live their entire life without experiencing the natural behaviour. They are forced to live in a very unsound condition. This is an unethical & inhuman ways to raise the hens.
Cage free means hens lived in a confined area between four walls which is called as shed. This system is much better than the caged one. In this system birds/hens have limited space for movement and can express a little natural behaviour. The arrangement of nest boxes lies inside the shed to lay an egg. But often due to limited space & crowd hens/birds feels uncomfortable & distress.
Free range meaning birds/hens are allowed to roam freely & comfortably in large space. They can experience their natural behaviour such as spreading their wings, flying, dust bath, scratching the grounds with claws and foraging their natural food. A pen for a night shelter and nest to lay eggs in privacy .These birds are happy & healthy and lays quality eggs. We At Desi Eggers preferred & choose only free range hens and their eggs.

No artificial hormones are used to advance or increase the egg production & weight of the bird. Anti-biotic free means bird diet is free from non-therapeutic anti- biotic.

Colour changes in the eggshell are due to pigments called porphyries being deposited while the eggs are in the process of formation. The process of colour change is closely associated to the breed of a bird, which means colour change is natural. Additionally, shell colour has nothing to do with egg quality, flavour, nutritive value or cooking characteristics.

The carotenoids in the hen’s feed make the yolks yellow. Carotenoids occur naturally in plants, fruits and vegetables. The greater the quantity of these colourful substances in the hen’s diet, the stronger the shade of the yolk. While the yolk colour is not an indicator of nutritive value, a golden upright yolk signifies good quality eggs.

The colour of an egg’s shell has nothing to do with nutritional difference, and everything to do with the type of the bird laying the egg. Hens that have white earlobes lay white eggs and hens with red earlobes lay brown eggs. The nutritional properties between the two eggs are identical.

Blood spots occur when blood or a bit of tissue is released along with yolk. Each developing yolk in a hen’s ovary is enclosed in a sack containing blood vessels that supply yolk building substances. When the yolk is mature, it is normally released from the only area of the yolk sac, called the Stigma or suture line that is free of blood vessels.

Occasionally, the yolk sac ruptures at some other point, causing blood vessels to break and blood to appear on the yolk or in the white. Blood spots occur in less than one percent of all eggs laid. Blood spots may be triggered by too little vitamin A in a hens diet, or they may be hereditary.

The difference is weather a rooster was involved or not in egg production. Hens do not need a rooster to lay eggs. Hens ovulate regularly. Such eggs are infertile. However, when a hen mates with a rooster, the eggs produced are fertile and under right incubation can bear chicks. There is no nutritional difference between fertile and infertile eggs. Happy Hens eggs are infertile.
At Desi Eggers We preferred & choose Non fertile eggs.

Keep them refrigerated and only take them out about 30 minutes before you will use them. Eggs can absorb flavours and odours so keep them in their cartons, pointed end down. And avoid washing them until they are ready to be used.

We educate & promote our farmers/egg producers to raise their hens naturally and freely. The bird/hens that they raised took nearly 5 to 6 month period to grow naturally. Once grow, they start laying eggs. So initially farmer/egg producer has to bear major expense on the feed of bird/hen We avoid hormones, anti-biotic & chemical to fulfil the need of feed and to raise quantity of eggs.

An egg with a double yolk is the result of a hen releasing two yolks into the same shell. It is typically caused by a younger laying hen whose reproductive systems have not fully matured. Eggs with double yolks can also come from older laying hens who are near the end of their egg laying portion of their lifespan. Eggs with double yolks are perfectly safe to egg and are even considered to be good luck!
