The hens are free to roam to foraging for insects, worms ,bugs and greens that make for a rich & healthy diet. There are different varities of hens that lays qulaity eggs for us.

One of the most popular and established breed that we rear is the Kaveri. It is mainly popular in Maharashtra and many regions of india for laying eggs. The bird has a multi coloured plumage. Good scavenging bird with high immunity and inbound instinct. Being a desi /improved desi breeds they are used for dual purpose like meat and eggs.

Hens Feed

  • Our hens feed on grains, greens, herbs, and other formulated in house in order to get a balanced healthy diet.
  • Feed is natural, free from antibiotics, artificial hormones, and chemicals.
  • In addition they are engaged in naturally foraging activity for food and feed on nutritious greens, seeds, bugs and other sources that make them healthier.

We at Desi Eggers ensures that while raising the birds our farmers/egg producers should follow the five freedoms set as per the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

    We make this possible through easy access of fresh water and food to them on time.

    We ensure that the birds will remain safe and comfortable in their vicinity and in their activity
  • Freedom from pain, injury, & disease
    Minimising the chances of pain, Injury disease through rational practices, However when they show symptoms of disease they are diagnosed and treated at high priority.
  • Freedom to express natural behaviour
    As we know that expressing natural behaviour is very important for hens to grow healthy in both ways physically & mentally. We emphasise that they should have enough space or cage free environment to enjoy the companionship with other hens and enjoy their natural behaviour such as spreading their wings, flying, dust bath, scratching the ground etc.
  • Freedom from fear and distress
    We educate farmers/egg producer that the birds should be free from fear and stress in order to lay quality & quantity eggs.
